摘要 Ribosome inactivator proteins (RIPs) known as beetin 27 and beetin 29 from the plant Beta vulgaris, process for obtaining them and their use. Beetin 27 has a relative molecular mass of 27080 daltons and has the following amino acid sequence at the terminal amine end: Ala-Asp-Val-Thr-Phe-Asp-Leu-Glu-Thr-Ala-Ser-Lys-Thr-Lys- Tyr-Gly-Thr-Phe-Leu-Ser-Asn-Leu-Arg-Asn-Ile-Val-Lys-Asp- Ser-Lys-Leu-Val-Tyr-Glu-Ile-Pro-Met and the other protein, beetin 29, has a relative molecular mass of 29000 daltons and has the following amino acid sequence at the terminal amine end: Ala-Asp-Val-Thr-Phe-Asp-Leu-Glu-Thr-Ala-Ser-Lys-Thr-Lys- Tyr-Gly-Thr-Phe-Leu-Ser-Asn-Leu-Arg-Asn-Ile. The general process for obtaining them comprises initial extraction operations from the leaves of the plant with an aqueous solution based on sodium chloride and monosodium phosphate to obtain an extract which is capable of inhibiting protein synthesis, and purifying this by ion exchange chromatography, molecular exclusion and reverse phase chromatography techniques. The said proteins have application as inhibitors of the biosynthesis of proteins and as virus genome ribonucleic acid inactivators and are useful in the treatment of cancer and AIDS and viral diseases in plants.
