The device has at least one signals source and/or sink of signals or power. A cable with non-reflecting terminations is laid along the trajectory of motion and the mobile units have an inductive coupling device (12,22,32) for coupling to the cable. The inductive coupling device is arranged wrt. the cable so that the currents induced or flowing in it can be tapped. A source and/or sink (11,21,31) for signals and/or power is arranged at one or both ends of the reflection-free terminated line.
