PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain excellent recording characteristics by adjusting the diameter of a recording beam, the track pitch of a substrate groove, a groove shape and a pigment. SOLUTION: In this optical recording medium provided with a recording layer 2 containing the pigment for absorbing laser beams directly or through an another layer on a transparent substrate 1 having the groove and the reflection layer 3 of metal directly or through the other layer on the recording layer, at the time of defining the diameter of the recording beam indicated by λ/NA as (r) (λ is a recording wavelength (μm) and NA is the numerical aperture of an objective lens). When the track pitch of the groove of the substrate is P(μm) and the width of the groove is Wg(μm), Wg and P satisfy 0.24r<Wg<0.35r and 0.68r<P<0.83r. As the pigment contained in the recording layer, an azo compound or a metal complex is used. |
