A minute composite inorganic powder constituted of a hydroxyl-bearing particulate core made of magnesium hydroxide, porous silica, hydrotalcite or the like and a shell made of aluminum oxide or aluminum hydroxide covering the surface of the core, excellent in ink-fixing properties, and therefor useful as a filler for recording materials or synthetic papers permitting sharp image formation or printing.
