PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable visual comparison of images taken by different imaging systems. SOLUTION: In this medical image processor, a display screen of an image display section is divided into an image display area 1 for displaying images taken and an operation panel display area 2. An image (base image), for example, taken by an X-ray CT apparatus is displayed on an upper stage (base area 3) of the image display area 1 while an image (match image) taken by an MRI is displayed on a middle stage (match area 4). An operation panel comprising operation keys for the positioning or the like of the images is displayed in the operation panel area 2 of the image display section. In this case, when the operation panel is operated and some fit points are attached onto images or regions of interest(ROI) are set on the base image, CPU positions and synthesizes the images based on the fit points and the regions of interest and the resulting synthesized image is displayed on the lower stage (synthesization area 5) of the image display area 1. This enables visual comparison of both the images.
