PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the adverse effect on a matter to be treated and surely sterilize spores by specifying the pressure to be added and the voltage and pulse width of a high voltage pulse to be applied, and specifying the divided value of the pulse period by the pulse width and the processing time. SOLUTION: A pair of electrodes making contact with a matter to be treated are provided within a vessel capable of housing the matter to be treated, and the matter to be treated within the vessel or the whole body including the matter to be treated and the vessel, is laid in a pressurized state having a pressure of 100-400MPa, and a high voltage pulse is applied between the electrodes to sterilize spores. The high voltage pulse has a voltage of 2-5kV, and a pulse width of 5mm/sec or more, the divided value of the pulse period by the pulse width or P-value is set to 50 or more, and the processing time is 5-60 minutes. Thus, even when the matter to be treated has any state, all spores such as of the genera Bacillus and Clostridium can be sterilized. |
