1346380 Polyamides PHILLIPS PETROLEUM CO 1 Sept 1972 [2 Sept 1971] 40589/72 Heading C3R A novel polycarbonamide (P) having terminal sulphonic acid or sulphonate groups is made from (Q) usual polyamide-forming reactants, and (S) RNHR<SP>1</SP>SO 3 M, where M is H and/or alkali metal, R is H or a C 1-12 saturated hydrocarbon radical, and R<SP>1</SP> is a C 1-18 divalent saturated hydrocarbon radical; there being 0À05- 4% moles (S) based on moles recurring amide units in (P). M may be Li, Na, K, Rb, or Cs. Reactants (Q) may be HOOC-R<SP>11</SP>-COOH, H 2 N-R<SP>11</SP>-NH 2 , or H 2 N-R<SP>11</SP>-COOH, where R<SP>11</SP> is a C 2-18 hydrocarbon radical, or esters, acid halides, or lactams thereof. The polymerization may be performed at 360-620‹ C until # intrinsic # 0À4. Anti foaming agents may be present. Polycarbonamide (P) has improved acid-dye-resistance and basic dyeability. (P) may be mixed with polypropylene. Also present may be TiO 2 and Mn lactate stabilizer. Uses.-Fibres, sheets, films, mouldings. |
