PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transferability and image reproducibility of an image forming material which generates difference in tacky adhesiveness between the exposed parts and non-exposed parts of a photosensitive layer and transfers the photosensitive layer imagewise to an image forming material to form image. SOLUTION: This image forming material is provided with a cushion layer and the photosensitive layer contg. color materials and photosensitive compsn. in this order on a base and is so constituted that the differences are generated in tacky adhesiveness between the exposed parts and non-exposed parts of the photosensitive layer by the imagewise exposure and the entire quantity of the photosensitive layer of the image parts is transferred to the image forming material. In such a case, (1) the ratio A/B of the difference A in the surface energy between the photosensitive layer and cushion layer in the non-image parts and the difference B in the surface energy between the photosensitive layer and cushion layer in the image parts is 0<=A/B<=0.5. (2) The difference B in the surface energy between the photosensitive and cushion layer in the image parts of (1) described above is 5<=B<=12. (3) The tanσvalue at the transfer temp. of the cushion layer surface is specified to 0.1<=tanσ<=1.0. (4) The image forming material is so formed as to satisfy the conditions of <=A/B<=0.5 of (1) in (3) described above.
