PRODUCTION OF MINERAL FIBER BOARD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a mineral fiber board excellent in fire preventing ability, sound absorbing property, lightness and profitableness. SOLUTION: A slurry is prepd. by uniformly dispersing 70-90wt.% mineral fibers, 0.5-5wt.% beaten pulp, 1.5-8wt.% perfectly saponified PVA, 1-10wt.% inorg. fine fibers, 0.5-3wt.% floccul.ant and 0.5-6wt.% thermally expandable fine particles in water. The expansion start temp. of the particles is 50-105 deg.C, the diameter of the particles is increased by 23 times by expansion and the diameter after expansion is 0.03 to <1.0mm. The slurry is formed in a board shape and dried.
