Marking applicator for roads or runways - uses hot gas burner to heat air flow in outlet tube for heat fusible particulate marking material

A gaseous fuel is burnt in air, under pressure, in a burner (20) and directed toward the road surface via an elongate duct. The fusible particulate solid marking material is injected in infused form into the gas stream, so that the material is impinged on the road surface. The temp. of the gas stream and the distance of the point of injection of the marking material from the surface ensures that some of the material is fused before it strikes the surface. The material can be entrained by an air stream, to be supplied in fluidised form.
