Recording device operating in dual mode has light sensitive sensor (8) with 2D sensor surface for recording information available on an information carrier. In first mode, images with partially overlapping contents, each relating to small portion of information carrier are imaged and combined to form composite image. In second mode, image corresponding to large portion of information carrier are recorded. - LEDs (6) are provided for indicating the imageable area on the information carrier. A lens unit (7) which is adjustable between the two modes of the recording device, projects the images of information carrier onto the sensor surface. A signal processor combines the partially overlapping contents of the images both in vertical and horizontal directions and stores it in coded format. |
