<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift locking mechanism of a shift lever device for a column automatic transmission, which is lighter in weight and simple in structure and also able to bring its positive shift locking function into full play. SOLUTION: A select plate 8 engaging with a detect plate 12 is installed in a shaft to be rotated by a shift lever. Then a shift locking plate 18 restricting any motion of the select plate 8 is installed on the outer surface of a retainer 1 free of sliding motion. This shift locking plate 18 is interlocked with both brake and key operations, thereby bringing the specified shift locking function into full play.</p> |
