HARD ALLOY HAVING HIGH HARDNESS AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce cemented carbide in which the content of a grain growth inhibitor is regulated to the minimum and contg. fine WC(wolfram carbide). SOLUTION: In a hard alloy composed of hard phases essentially consisting of WC and bonding phases essentially consisting of ferrous metal, the average grain size is regulated to <0.5μm, and the total content of the carbides of Cr, V and Cr and the carbide of V (grain growth inhibitor) is regulated only to <=1wt.% to the content of the bonding phases. This cemented carbide can be obtd. by subjecting a raw material having a prescribed compsn. to electric press sintering at 1100 to 1350 deg.C under 5 to 200MPa.
