Electrically heated hair curler

The electrically heated curler has a cylinder inside which the electric element heats the hair wound around the roller. The roller has a pattern of longitudinal grooves to hold support strips for spacer rings (10) which prevent the scalp touching the hot surface of the roller. The rings are made of a poor thermal conductor. The lock of hair wound around the roller is held in place by a spring loaded clamping grip (4). This is also made of a poor thermal conductor and has an inner face coating to improve the grip on the hair. The curler can be provided with steam holes under the hinged grip, to shape the hair.
