The invention comprises a falling-film evaporator for evaporating wast liquor from pulp cooking, comprising a tube system (4, 5) with horizontal tubes (4). The invention is characterized in that the tubes (4) are, at each tube end, mounted in tube plates (5) provided with flow-through holes, and in that both the tube plates (5) are supportingly and sealingly fixed to the container wall (1) so that a closed space (18, 19) with an inlet (7) and outlets (10, 11) for the evaporation steam exists between the tube plates (5) and the wall (1).
