PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve soundproof effect by providing a recessed portion to the opposite side of noise source at a predetermined height from the floor surface on the main body of a soundproof wall extending upward from the track or the surface of a road. SOLUTION: For example, in the case of preventing noise generated from a railway vehicle T, a main body 1 of soundproof wall is installed vertically from the floor surface R of track. Next, a recessed portion 2 such as V-shape is provided at the noise source side at a predetermined height from the floor surface R of the main body 1 of the soundproof wall. At the time of noise occurrence, sound pressure is reduced by the occurrence of eddy in the flow of sound at the place of the recessed portion 2 at the inner part of the soundproof wall. Then, the recessed portion 2 is located at the level of same height as noise source for example, and excellent noise reduction effect can be obtained when the opening angle of the recessed portion 2 is within the range of 105 deg.±20 deg.. By doing this, the noise can be reduced considerably, the construction can be simplified and the work can be performed easily.
