The apparatus for controlling a cutting-off of power in a television receiving set comprises an operation sensing part for sensing a motion of the human body and providing its corresponding electric signal; a controlling part which includes a comparator for receiving the electric signal of the operation sensing part and comparing it with a predetermined value, and also includes a signal generator for generating a power-off signal used for shielding a supply of power in response to a first state output of the comparator; and a power supplying part for cutting off power provided to the receiving set in response to the controlling part and the power-off signal.
