One of the handles (14) of the skipping rope (4) has a numerical display (8) between the handgrip and the end of the rope. The rope is attached by a hook (10) which fits in a hole on a pin (12). As the pin rotates, a cam section of the pin operates a microswitch inside the handle. The pin rotates through 360 degrees, every time the rope is swung for a skip. The microswitch feeds a signal to a microprocessor inside the case below the display (8). The microprocessor and screen are powered by a small internal battery.
