<p>PURPOSE:To provide an easily handleable rope using combinded filaments, having a higher strength, a smaller diameter, a lighter weight and a larger initial elongation than those of conventional ropes. CONSTITUTION:A rope uses fibers containing >=50% (expressed by denier) of ultra-high strength polyethylene multifilaments having a tensile breakage strength of >=15g/d, a tensile elongation of <=6%, and a tensile initial modulus of elasticity of >=450g/d. Fibers used in addition to the ultra-high strength multifilaments are nylon or polyester multifilaments. The rope has a small diameter and a light weight, is easily handleable, and does not receive a sudden impact, even when a ship is oscillated in the case the rope is used as a mooring rope.</p> |
