PURPOSE:To reduce blowing noise during the 'Lo' operation of an air blower and reduce the hunting of a refrigerant compressor. CONSTITUTION:An electric motor 26 for driving a refrigerant compressor is variable in the rotating speed according to the output frequency of an inverter 27. The inverter 27 is adjusted in the output frequency by an air conditioning control device 6 in correspondence with the operating position of a temperature regulating lever so that the output frequency is minimum when the temperature regulating lever manually operated by an occupant is set into a minimum capacity position (minimum cooling capacity and minimum heating capacity) and that the output frequency is maximum when the temperature regulating lever is set into a maximum capacity position (maximum cooling capacity and maximum heating capacity). The air-conditioning control device 6 changes the frequency characteristic of the inverter 27 so that the highest rotating speed of the electric motor 26 is lowered in relation to the time of the 'Me 2' level or higher when an air quantity level set by an air quantity changeover switch is on the '''Lo' level.
