A vehicle wheel frame is formed of a pair of side members, one shown at (110), in opposing, side-by-side relationship. Each side member is generally of moulded construction and includes central formations (124) for securing hub components (124), outwardly extending spokes (120) and rim portions for forming a rim to seat a tyre. The formations (124) include an outwardly bulging boss formation (126) seating a metal flange (132) internally. A peripheral recess (138) of the flange (132) anchors layers (144) of moulding material overlying the flange (132). The flange (132) is positioned in a jig or template during moulding and (optionally) during curing and is thus moulded into the side member. The flange (132) has tapped holes (148) via which an external hub member (150) can be secured to the flange. |
