Back-illuminated function device, e.g. for electrical circuit

The function device has a transparent base provided with an opaque covering layer, which is partially removed for providing transparent function display regions. The regions are illuminated by a light source at the rear of the base. The opaque covering is applied over between 25 % and 75 % of the base, with at least one transparent region (3) being clear. At least one further transparent region (4) is diffused. The clear transparent region is provided by a clear plate (1a) fitted in the base.
