New coated particles of anatase titanium di:oxide, having anti-UV properties

Particles of anatase TiO2 of maximum particle size 100 nm, which are coated with a primary layer of a Ce compound and/or Fe; and a secondary layer of a metallic oxide, hydroxide or oxohydroxide. The particles have a surface area, BET, of at least 70 m<2>/g and a density in the order of 2.5. Also claimed, are their method of preparation and use.
