Flow monitor for hydraulic fluid in vehicle hydraulic system

The monitor comprises a resistance element (24) which is situated in the flow path of the hydraulic liquid. When the liquid flows past the resistance at a preset volume per unit of time it moves from a first position into a second. A contact (26) located in the flow path and which is insulated relative to the resistance forms an electrical switch with the resistance. As the resistance moves from the first position to the second the switch changes its circuit state and the reverse. In either its first or second position the contact can connect the resistance to earth. The resistance element can be a diaphragm plate located coaxially in the flow path.
