<p>Coating fluids with reduced solvent evaporation are disclosed. A solvent or solvent mixture preferably includes dyes or pigments, and optionally a wax-like soluble additive capable of producing a skin on the surface of the fluid when exposed to air. The wax-like additive is preferably employed in an amount representing at least twenty percent (20 %) saturation at a temperature of 20 °C and has a melting point of at least 40 °C. In the most preferred embodiments, the wax-like solid is selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon waxes, polyethylene glycol waxes, monocarboxylic aliphatic acids having 12 to 22 carbon atoms, amides of such aliphatic acids or esters of such aliphatic acids, or monohydric aliphatic alcohols containing 14 to 22 carbon atoms, cholesterol, lanolin alcohols and salts of monocarboxylic aliphatic acids having 14 to 18 carbon atoms.</p> |
