Method and device for detecting and measuring tightness in cable components. An airtight chamber 9 is connected to the element to be measured 1; a pre-set pressure is injected into the chamber via a pneumatic circuit 12; the pressure is continuously measured in the chamber 9 by means of a transducer; the value of the pressure measured is compared with the set value and from the result of the comparison of the previous phase it is determined whether the tested element is tight or not. The set pressure is injected into the chamber with the minimum possible flow rate, with the object of detecting the smallest possible leaks. <IMAGE>
