Process for concentrating light by means of fluorescent compounds in plastic sheets or films. The fluorescent compounds used are those of the formula where R<1> and R<2> are identical or different aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, ortho-substituted aromatic or ortho-substituted heterocyclic radicals which are free of water-solubilising groups, X is chlorine or bromine, Y is fluorine, cyano, hydroxyl, alkoxy, aryloxy, alkylthio, arylthio, -SO2R<3> or >SO2 disposed in the 1,12- and/or 6,7-position, R<3> is chlorine, alkyl or aryl, m is 0 to 12 and n is 1 to 5, the sum m + n being 1 to 14 and for m>1 and/or n>1 substituents X and Y being identical or different.
