The invention concerns an acidic aqueous phosphate treatment solution containing between 0.2 and 3 g/l zinc ions and between 3 and 50 g/l phosphate ions calculated as PO4. The solution additionally contains between 0.002 and 0.2 g/l ruthenium ions, preferably manganese ions and one or a plurality of accelerators, in particular hydroxylamine.
