A window frame element for the manufacture of a window frame, comprises at least two cross-sectional layers. The main layer (1) consists of a mechanically stable material, and the window frame (4) is fixed to it. An inner (2) or outer (3) insulating layer is attached to the main layer, and consists of a heat insulating material. The main layer preferably consists of a light weight concrete filled with polystyrene granules.
