PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-dimensional (2D) bar code having structure capable of expressing much information by the small number of reference units and a card using the bar code. SOLUTION: The 2D bar code consists of plural square basic units. In the case of expressing a numeric value or character information, each basic unit includes four square elements, respective elements have respectively different dimensions and are concentrically arranged, respective sides of each square element are selectively cut off to binary values and the whole basic unit expresses a binary number of 16 bits. Respective sides of each element can be cut off by coded information such as a Morse code. In this case, the compression rate of data is increased. In the case of expressing the purchase or payment unit price of a specific commodity by using a 2D bar code on a prepaid card, a basic unit including only one square element is used, the number of basic units corresponding to the amount of the prepaid card are printed out on the card and the reference units are painted out in accordance with an amount used. |
