PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To embody displays of various colors with one light control element of an interference reflection system. SOLUTION: A first light control layer 20 formed by alternately laminating and forming high polymer dispersion type liquid crystal layers 21 and 22 between a transparent substrate 11 formed with transparent electrodes 12 and a transparent substrate 13 formed with transparent electrodes 14 and a second light control layer 30 formed by alternately laminating and forming high polymer dispersion type liquid crystal layers 31 and 32 are laminated and held and a light absorption plate 15 is disposed on the transparent substrate 11 side. The second light control layer 30 is formed by two-frequency driving type liquid crystals 7. The refractive indices of the liquid crystal layers 21, 22, 31, 32, defined as n1, n2, n3, n4, are so set that any of a first mode where n1=n2, n3=n4, a second mode where n1≠n2, n3=n4, a third mode where n1=n2, n3≠n4, and a fourth mode where n1≠n2, n3≠n4 may be selectively adopted.
