FILE NUMBER REMAPPING METHOD AND DEVICE FOR SUSPENDED PROCESSING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a client to transmissively produce a new file number while a server is kept unavailable in a client-server computer environment where the server controls the generation and allocation of the number of a newly generated file. SOLUTION: A file number table is generated and held in a client 35 to store and map the file numbers. The client 35 generates a number of a new file and stores the number in the file number table to map it to the file number that is later allocated by a server 20 in response to a new file generation request that is received while a server 20 is kept unavailable. Then a flag is set and detected to solve the collision between the server 20 and the file number that is generated by the client 35.
