PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely support a piezoelectric ceramic board by supporting the piezoelectric ceramic board such that a resilient body abuts against the opposite sides of a line connecting the intersections of nodes of longitudinal and lateral oscillation modes, thereby minimizing suppression of the oscillation. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric transformer has an input electrode 11 formed by baking silver, for example, to the surface and rear of a rectangular piezoelectric ceramic board 10 on one longitudinal end side thereof and an output electrode 12 formed on the opposite end face. Since the piezoelectric transformer has high ratio of breadth to the length thereof, not only a longitudinal oscillation mode but also a breadthwise oscillation mode appears. A spreading oscillation generated by couplingλ-mode of longitudinal oscillation withλ/2-mode of breadthwise oscillation has the strongest coupling. A piezoelectric ceramic board is supported by pressing or bonding a resilient body onto a line connecting nodes of oscillation, i.e., two intersections of a breadthwise center line and longitudinal quarter and three-quarters lines.
