<p>The invention concerns a method for making a product for partially oxidizing a lower alcohol whereby a lower alcohol is subjected to oxidation by being contacted in vapour phase with oxygen or a gas containing molecular oxygen in the presence of a catalyst, at least one diluting inert gas (G) being added to the lower alcohol/molecular oxygen or molecular oxygen containing reaction mixture. The invention is characterized in that it consists in using, as diluting inert gas (G), or as one of the diluting inert gases (G), one gas selected among CO<SUB>2</SUB>, C<SUB>n</SUB>H<SUB>2n+2</SUB> with n = 1 to 5 terminals inclusively and cyclopentane C<SUB>5</SUB>H<SUB>10</SUB>.</p> |
