PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time of descaling treatment after heat treatment and to reduce a running cost by applying solution heat treatment to a stainless steel sheet in a specific temp. range in an atmosphere having specific partial pressure of oxygen. SOLUTION: Solution heat treatment is applied to a stainless steel sheet while limiting the partial pressure of oxygen (PO2 ) of heat treatment atmosphere at solution heat treatment to >0.02 to <15% and also limiting the maximum ultimate temp.(Tmax) of heat treatment to >980 to <1,040 deg.C. By this method, the thickness of scale at the time of solution heat treatment can be regulated to 0.14μm. As a result, the time of descaling treatment can be shortened to about 40sec or below. Further, it is desirable that temp. elevation at heat treatment is as fast as possible.
