PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the lightness of display images by increasing the surface reflectivity of the reflection electrode layers of a reflection type image display device with which modulation reflected light is obtd. by controlling the light transmittance of a liquid crystal layer by every pixel. SOLUTION: The reflection electrode layers 32 are formed to the layer thickness smaller than the thickness (usually about 1μm) of the wiring elements for first junctures 31 and switching elements 5 formed on an Si substrate 4 side and is formed to 0.1 to 0.6μm. In the case the reflection electrode layers 32 are formed of material consisting essentially of aluminum by sputtering, the surface reflectivity is lower by grain growth as the layer thickness is larger but the setting of the high surface reflectivity is made possible by forming the layers thin as described above. The first junctures 31 are built up and formed to an upper side and the second junctures 34 are made short, by which the connection reliability by the second junctures 34 is enhanced while the reflection electrode layers 32 and the second junctures 34 are simultaneously formed. |
