The ball valve has a housing (2) with an inner chamber (24). It has a rotating ball (26) which is fitted into the chamber through an opening (50) in the wall of the housing. After insertion, the ball is then rotated about the transverse axis (28). The assembly is designed so that the axis (36) of the ball is aligned with the vertical axis (12) of the housing.
