<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a purification of a high-purity long-chain fatty acid metal salt for forming an LB membrane, an electron emission element, electron source and an image former which can form large size image with uniformity within the image. SOLUTION: A short-chain fatty acid metal salt formed from a short-chain fatty acid of <=3C and a metal and a long-chain fatty acid of >=6C (in the case that the acid bears aromatic ring (s), the carbons in the aromatic ring are not counted) are used as raw meterials to effect the fatty acid exchange reaction to synthesize lone-chain fatty acid metal salt. The short-chain fatty acid as a by-product is removed from the reaction mixture under reduced pressure and the crude reaction product is purified. In this case, the crude product is subjected to a liquid chromatography using silica get or alumina as an adsorbent and elution is carried out with a halogenated hydrocarbon as an eluent to fractionate the long-chain fatty acid metal salt as an eluate and the solvent is removed thereby giving the objective purified long-chain fatty acid meal salt.</p> |
