DETECTION OF MUTAGENICITY OF COMPOUND USING TRANSGENIC NONHUMAN ANIMAL AND TRANSGENIC NONHUMAN ANIMAL THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for objectively detecting mutagenicity of a compound, capable of reducing the amount of DNA in detection through recovering the DNA for detecting mutation therein in microorganisms easily and in high efficiency. SOLUTION: This method for detecting mutagenicity of a compound is made up of the following consecutive processes: (1) a transgenic nonhuman animal bearing a shuttle vector in the nucleus is exposed to a compound as specimen for time enough to induce mutation in the animal; (2) the shuttle vector is recovered from the chromosome of the animal to microorganisms; (3) the microorganisms are proliferated under such selective conditions as to function a marker gene borne by the shuttle vector; and (4) whether there is a mutation or not in the DNA for detecting mutation borne by the shuttle vector and held in the proliferated microorganisms is determined.
