<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject intermediate capable of efficiently providing a water-soluble dye excellent in light resistance, water resistance, storage stability, etc., in a low load of treatment of environmental pollution by coupling a specific sulfonic acid group-containing compound to a diazotized product of an aromatic amine compound. SOLUTION: (A) A compound in which a molar ratio (expressed by area ratio by HPLC analysis) of a compound having a structure of formula I and replacing sulfonic acid group in the structure at 7 position to total of isomers replacing sulfonic acid group at other positions is (19:1) to (120:1) is coupled to a diazolized product of an aromatic amine compound of the formula Q-NH2 (Q is a 1-4C alkylcarbonylamino, naphthyl, etc.) to provide the objective intermediate of formula III. Furthermore, the intermediate of formula II is diazotized with sodium nitrite, etc., in a mineral acid such as hydrochloric acid and then coupled to naphthols to provide the objective water-soluble dye.</p> |
