A ceramic honeycomb structure which comprises partition walls (3) for defining a plurality of mutually adjacent flow passages having polygonal sections and peripheral walls (5) for integrally holding the partition walls (3), wherein the mean thickness of the peripheral walls (3) is 0.05 to 0.13 mm, the mean thickness of the peripheral walls (5) is greater than that of the partition walls (3) and the mean contact width of the partition walls (3) with the peripheral walls (5) satisfies a predetermined relation. The peripheral walls and the portions near the peripheral walls hardly crack.
