The method involves using an external warning unit having a cylindrical form with a box side section (2) that fits onto a wall. The top section is of glass or plastic and contains a flash bulb connected to a circuit board. The centre section has a pressure chamber loudspeaker with sound openings formed in a plate that connects with a lower outlet section (4). The side section has a plug that connects via the wall plate with the central alarm system. If the unit is separated from the wall plate then the alarm is triggered.
