The torque converter comprises a central drive shaft (1) and an inner differential gear (2) with an inner hollow shaft (26) and an output shaft (27). An outer differential gear (3) has an outer hollow shaft (36) and a clutch shaft (37). A drive wheel (29) connects the inner and outer differential gears. There is a torque or rotational speed reduction ratio between the clutch shaft and the outer hollow shaft. An electric motor (4) has inner (41) and outer (42) base elements which can turn in opposite directions to each other and which alternate electrical current and torque. The inner hollow shaft of the inner differential gear is connected to the inner base element and the outer hollow shaft of the outer differential gear is connected to the outer base element of the electric motor. A clutch (5) comprises a first half (51) joined to the inner differential gear output shaft and a second half (52) joined to the outer differential gear clutch shaft.
