The rotary drive for a locking power cylinder (10) of a vehicle suspension arm consists of a lever arm (26) fixed to the vehicle chassis. A mobile member is connected to the lever arm and the power cylinder. The mobile member comprises an auxiliary hydraulic cylinder (22) with its rod (23) connected to the lever arm and its body to the locking power cylinder. The hydraulic circuits for the main and auxiliary power cylinders are linked by a channel (20) in line with the upper face of the locking cylinder's piston. The channel emerges into the chamber (28) of the auxiliary cylinder at a point where the space on at least one side of it is at least as great as the thickness of the auxiliary cylinder's piston (24). In addition, the rods (18,23) of the main and auxiliary power cylinders lie parallel to one another.
