In the treatment of acute hemorrhage, a combinational therapy coadministering proendothelin and chemically modified hemoglobin extends survival time and increases blood flow, cardiovascular tone, and oxygen consumption compared to controls in which either agent was administered alone. The combinational therapy produces a dramatic increase in survival time compared to infusion of a vehicle such as Ringer's lactate, the current standard of treatment. |
