<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of converting an oven equipped with an air-fuel burner to an oven with an oxygen-fuel burner generally involving a cylindrical burner block tunnel while operating the oven, by taking a special means. SOLUTION: In this conversion method designed to remove an old air-fuel burner and an old burner block, and set up a new burner block and a new oxygen-fuel burner, only the central cylindrical portion of the old burner block is removed, a refractory pipe 16 having an outer diameter just a bit smaller than the diameter of the cylindrical central portion and an inner diameter required for a new oxygen-fuel burner is inserted into the central portion, and a compressible refractory gasket 18 is set up between the end of the pipe 16 and the new oxygen-fuel burner 20 so as to afford tight sealing when the new burner 20 is set up. The central portion of the old burner block is cut off by core-boring.</p> |
