摘要 PURPOSE: To improve the manufacturing yield by forming an insulating film in between the transparent electrode of a transparent substrate and liquid crystal and specifying the resistance value of the material of the insulating film to reduce the generation of contrast ununiformity due to the electrification of static electricity. CONSTITUTION: Insulating films (e), (f) are formed by coating insulating film material on transparent electrodes (c), (d) of transparent substrates (a), (b) on whose surfaces the transparent electrodes (c), (d) are formed in an arbitrary form with a printing method. Moreover, oriented films (g), (f) are formed by the same method as that of the insulating films (e), (f) and after their surfaces are rubbed, the substrates are stuck each other by surface seals (j) while allowing oriented film sides to be faced and liquid crystal (i) is held in the gap. In this case, material having resistance value of 10<12> -10<6>Ω.CM is used as the insulating film material. As a result, the electric charges charged on the boundary between the insulating film and the transparent electrode and the boundary between the insulating film and liquid crystal can be discharged in a shorter time than that in the conventional insulating film. Furthermore, voltage losses at the time the transparent electrodes (c), (d) impress voltages on liquid systal can be reduced.
