<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent offset, winding of a recording material around a fixing roller, and other problems by preparing a toner from a binder resin, coloring agent and specified wax, forming a release layer of a specified mixture on the outermost surface of a heating and fixing member, and controlling the contact angle of the release layer with water to a specified range. SOLUTION: A toner image T not fixed on a recording material P is brought into contact with a release layer as the outermost surface of a heating roller 101 so as to heat and/or press the image and to melt. Then the recording layer P is separated from the release layer to fix the toner image on the recording material P. The toner which constitutes the toner image T contains a binder resin, a coloring agent and wax. The wax used has 400 to 4000 weight average mol.wt. and 200 to 4000 number average mol.wt. Moreover, the release layer as the outermost surface of the heating roller 101 consists of a mixture of a fluorine rubber and a tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkylvinylether copolymer.
