<p>409,666. Measuring stop-motions for looms. FROST, W. H., 307, Colne Road, Burnley. Nov. 1, 1932, No. 30701. [Class 142 (i).] In a device for measuring the length of cloth or counting the number of weft picks that can be woven with one cop &c. and for causing a stop motion to come into action by a lever h, h<2> falling into a gap in a member, as described in Specification 307,953, [Class 142 (i)], an endwise movable stepped shaft b, b<1>, b<2> formed of three diameters and mounted in a casing A, carries clutch members C, E and a collar F. The member C is driven by worm gearing from a shaft d<1>, which is driven by ratchet gearing and adjustable lever mechanism from a crank or eccentric adjustably mounted on the loom bottom shaft. A spring f acting on the collar F causes a ball thrust bearing thereon to move the member E, which operates the stop motion, into frictional driving engagement with the member C. This is engaged by corks e, a tension spring e<4> tending to resist the rotation of the member E. The collar F is first turned by worm gearing from a hand operated setting wheel g2, Fig. 2, until a stop f on the collar is in the desired starting position relatively to a stop e<2> on the clutch member E, which at this time is held by the engagement with a gap e<1> therein of a finger h<3> on the lever h, h2. The lever h, h<2> is now raised out of the gap in the member E, which is then rotated by the spring e<4> until its stop contacts with the stop on the collar, the arm h of the lever h, h<2> having moved the stepped shaft endwise so that a shoulder on the part b has disengaged the member E from the worm driven clutch member C. The lever h, h<2> is now lowered on to the periphery of the member E, so that the arm h allows the stepped shaft to be moved endwise to the left by the spring f and the member E to be driven by the clutch member C, whereby it is slowly rotated until its gap allows the lever h, h<2> to fall. When this occurs, by means of devices described, a lever pivoted on a bracket on the starting handle is rocked into the path of a collar on a rod operated by a crank pin &c. on the bottom shaft. The starting handle is thus operated to stop the loom. The collar F is prevented from making more than one revolution by means of a screw e<5>, which can engage the stop on the collar.</p> |
