PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate nonuniformity of density from an electrode material of a thin layer electrode, attain high density of an active material, homogenization and smoothing of a thin layer electrode surface, and increase a filling quantity of a thin layer electrode active material in a battery case by making adhesion of the electrode material containing a positive electrode or negative electrode active material hard to be caused on a roller surface, repolishing the roller surface, and facilitating maintenance of a roller such as control of roller surface performance. SOLUTION: A thin layer electrode manufacturing press roller 1 is provided with a roller core 2 and a covering layer 3 containing a ceramic material arranged outside the roller core 2. When a thin layer electrode is manufactured, after a paste-like mix containing a positive electrode or negative electrode active material is applied to a surface of metallic foil for an electrode, this mix applied metallic foil is sandwiched and pressurized between the ceramic press roller 1, a roller similar to the ceramic press roller and a metallic roller or an elastic roller. |
